Former Chief Operating Officer of Digital Equipment Corporation and President of Perseptive Biosystems Adds Experience and Insight to DataCore Software

DataCore Software announced today the election to its Board of Directors of Jack
Smith, a widely recognized computer industry leader and executive. Commented

Jack Smith served as Digital Equipment Corporation's (DEC) Chief Operating
Officer until 1993. While at DEC Jack held senior positions in manufacturing,
engineering, international, sales and marketing. Subsequent to DEC Jack served as
President and Director of Perseptive BioSystems, recognized as the 4th
fastestgrowing small public company on Inc Magazine's 100 list. Perseptive was
recently acquired by Perkin Elmer. Jack also currently serves of the Board of
Directors of Texas Micro, Instron Corporation, Hadco Corporation, and Ansys
Corporation.
