Top Silicon Valley Angel Investor, Audrey MacLean, Seeds DataCore Software

Forbes Magazine's Top Selector of Start-Ups Is Investor and Advisor to DataCore

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 12, 1998-- Audrey MacLean, described by Forbes Magazine as the "Angel investor who seeds the next superstars of technology'' announced today that she is participating in seed funding for DataCore Software and will serve as an advisor to the company.

DataCore Software Corporation develops products which dramatically change the performance and cost dynamics of information retrieval and access by providing advanced data storage features and functions in software. DataCore is leading the software revolution in data access and storage systems by replacing complex and expensive proprietary hardware with advanced software running on fast "Wintel'' systems.

MacLean said, "DataCore has a terrific technology and a sound business plan for assaulting the rapidly growing and wide open data storage and access marketplace.'' MacLean, who also teaches entrepreneurship at Stanford's Graduate School of Engineering, was a founder of NET and Adaptive Corporation, as well as a seed investor in Pure Software.
