DataCore Lands Partnership With Qnet for DFW Airport
Relationship starts With Dallas/Fort-Worth International Airport Win and Takes Off
FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. - May 2, 2005 - DataCore Software today announced that it has entered into a partnership with Qnet Information Services ("Qnet") to enhance the overall service solution offerings Qnet brings to its customers and provide them with a unique data storage alternative.
Qnet customer Dallas/Fort-Worth International Airport had particular storage and high-availability requirements that demanded redundancy, needs that the airport was struggling to fulfill. According to Larry Hall, CEO, Qnet Information Services, the large data storage vendors were not an appropriate fit for this customer. "None of them had the exact solution we were looking for and prices were too high to meet the level of uptime and redundancy required," he said.
"Over the course of our evaluation we learned a lot more about DataCore's SANsymphony product. We then determined that DataCore was the right fit for what is now our mutual customer, DFW International Airport," said Hall. "And while we work with others in the storage arena, DataCore is unique in its approach. This partnership fundamentally enhances our ability to deliver robust storage networking, virtualization and infrastructure service offerings to our current customers."
Qnet's customers are looking for a solution that enables them not only to store, but also to protect and secure their data. Particularly with Sarbanes-Oxley in effect, these customers have to be accountable for the storage of their data as well as making certain their data is available at a moment's notice. "DataCore's solution provides a level of comfort to Qnet customers that traditional storage solutions do not bring," added Hall. "Plus, DataCore is easy to manage and to maintain."
A real selling point for Qnet was that their customers do not need huge budgets to afford the DataCore software. "They are looking for a storage solution that is cost- effective," said George Teixeira, president and CEO, DataCore Software. "Although DFW deployed the higher-end SANsymphony product for scalability, many of Qnet's other customers, especially those in the oil & gas sector, are attracted by the ultra high-performance and low price of SANmelody."
"DataCore is also a natural fit for new verticals that Qnet is targeting," added Teixeira. "These industries, which include healthcare and the public sector, have tight budgets and require a lot of data storage. All of these users also require a level of uptime that our technology has a proven track record of providing."
Established in 1999, Qnet's core business is IT outsourcing. The company also provides IT system integration as well as overall IT solutions to it customers. With over 80 employees and consultants, Qnet has grown by serving as a trusted integrator as well as gatekeeper to top-tier vendors for its customers. Qnet addresses customer needs by embracing multiple solutions, but the customer has to deal with only one partner - Qnet - to get this "best-of-breed" approach. Qnet's customer base includes billion dollar corporations, large oil & gas corporations as well as major government entities.
"After seeing the software in a real-world simulation, DFW International Airport took the risk to evaluate and test the product in their environment and the product immediately worked," explained Hall. "It was readily apparent then that DataCore sold itself instantly at the airport." DataCore software is now fully deployed at DFW and Qnet is looking at a wealth of other large corporations to become DataCore users.
