Bell Microproducts and DataCore Software Enter Storage Distribution Agreement for SANmelody™ Software Price performance leadership, Virtualisation flexibility and low-cost iSCSI and FC SAN solutions Reading, 15th February 2005: DataCore Software, announced today that the company has agreed to team with Bell Microproducts (NASDAQ: BELM) to market and sell disk server software and kits based on DataCore SANmelody™. Through this arrangement, system integrators (SIs) and value added resellers (VARs) have access to comprehensive packages of hardware and software components from which to tailor affordable iSCSI/LAN and Fibre Channel SAN end-user storage solutions. "Partners need to get beyond the limits of today's storage offerings - delivering value by adding the flexibility and cost savings of virtualisation into user infrastructures to meet the challenges of storage growth. With DataCore you get world record price performance, simple and low-cost FC and IP SAN solutions and an adaptable platform to build solutions and services over time", stated George Teixeira, CEO of DataCore Software. "Tailor a low-cost entry system or go all the way - value create powerful differentiated solutions for Disaster Recovery, Non-disruptive Disk Backups, Remote IP Replication, Consolidation, and Business Continuance." In contrast to traditional storage subsystems that provide little room for SI or VAR differentiation, Bell Microproducts' customers can fully customize Powered by DataCore™ disk servers to match the requirements and equipment preferences of their end-users. Selectable items include the base hardware platform, host-bus adapters, network interface cards, disk drives and disk enclosures. "White-box" as well as branded components form the building blocks for very cost-effective iSCSI/ LAN storage expansion. Alternatively, they may choose suitable kits for adding high-end Fibre Channel SAN capacity. The necessary storage control intelligence and administrative interface in either case come with the SANmelody software.
