IIJ Technology, Inc. Deploys DataCore SANsymphony, Realizing Lower Costs and Improved Flexibility of Outsourced Storage Services
Large-Scale, Multi-Vendor Open Storage Network - First of its Kind in Japan
FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. (December 8, 2003) DataCore Software Corporation, a leading provider of enterprise-class, open-storage networking software, today announced that it is working with IIJ Technology, Inc., (IIJ-Tech) to enhance IIJ-Tech's storage outsourcing services based on the DataCore SANsymphony open storage network platform. The new system utilizes DataCore's industry-pioneering storage management software to create a multi-vendor, consolidated, and efficient storage environment that enables improved company flexibility and scalability. The large-scale multi-vendor storage system is the first 20-terabyte storage system in Japan and is unprecedented in its leverage of technology, size and cost-efficiency. By lowering costs and improving management capabilities, IIJ-Tech is able to offer customers a multiplicity of enhanced services at prices reduced by nearly a fifth compared to previous versions. Kanematsu Electronics Ltd. (KEL), DataCore's general agent in Japan, is responsible for the design and architecture of the new storage system, while Information Services International-Dentsu, Ltd. (ISID) is managing solution proposals and implementation.
"More and more Japanese corporations are implementing large-scale SANs (storage area networks) that require disaster recovery, provisioning, high utilization and high performance," said Peter Thompson, managing director, Asia Pacific for DataCore. "Through our partnership with KEL and ISID, DataCore is able to work with IIJ-Tech to deliver an open, economical, 20-plus terabyte storage system meeting these management requirements for the Japanese market."
SANsymphony software from DataCore provides IIJ-Tech with the core virtualization and centralized management, automation, performance and advanced storage services central to bringing to market a diverse 'menu' of storage services tailored to client needs. IIJ-Tech, no longer restricted to a single storage vendor, is now able to select the hardware best matching the company's requirements in terms of price, performance, and other parameters. SAN from IIJ-Tech primarily uses IBM servers and ADTX storage hardware in delivering an outstanding cost-performance ratio.
Additionally, SANsymphony's automated provisioning features ensure that all types of storage are used and allocated with high-level efficiency and security, fulfilling application servers' needs. SANsymphony also significantly enhances performance for all storage resources, increasing the responsiveness and productivity of application servers. Through the incorporation of the software, IIJ-Tech has been able to realize lower management costs and greater purchasing flexibility.
