Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Adds Non-Stop Storage Service with DataCore Software

New Storage Architecture Leverages SANsymphony™ for High Availability, Consolidation

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. (October 6, 2003) — DataCore Software, a leading provider of enterprise-class, open storage networking software, today announced that Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has implemented a DataCore SANsymphony™-based storage network at its Daytona Beach, Fla., campus. Embry-Riddle uses the solution to meet data availability service-level requirements, consolidate and automate management for new and existing storage resources and increase its staff productivity.

"Prior to our current storage solution, we were experiencing slow performance and students were having difficulty accessing email and online courses," said Debby Creech, manager of infrastructure services for Embry-Riddle. "SANsymphony significantly accelerates the responsiveness of storage and applications and eliminates many of the common causes of downtime we used to confront."

To consolidate Embry-Riddle's direct-attached islands of storage and provide data protection capabilities, it enlisted Datalink Corporation to implement a storage area network (SAN) solution built on the SANsymphony platform. In addition to improved performance, the deployment provides a high degree of protection against outages: redundant, synchronous copies of data are stored on different storage devices, including Hitachi Data Systems storage and legacy arrays, located at separate data centers in the Florida campus. Only DataCore enables the university to achieve this level of protection while maintaining centralized control and high performance.
