DataCore CTO Discusses Standards-Based Storage Platforms at Intel Developer Forum
INTEL DEVELOPER FORUM - SAN JOSE, Calif. (September 15, 2003) Ziya Aral of DataCore Software, will participate in a panel -- Storage at a Crossroads: The Arrival of Standards-Based Storage Platforms. He will explore how a generation of portable storage control software combined with commodity computing platforms will spawn a new generation of arrays equipped with enterprise-class functionality and unparalleled performance at a fraction of the cost of today's products.
The panel, moderated by Randy Kerns of the Evaluator Group, will explore the future of storage platforms developed from standard hardware building blocks, and discuss today's market forces and technology trends. The discussion will focus on solutions that enable OEMs to rapidly enter the storage market with full-featured products requiring almost no engineering development.
Mr. Aral is the founder, chairman, and Chief Technology Officer for DataCore Software. DataCore represents the culmination of a 20-year career in the software industry, most recently at Encore Computer, where he created many of the core technologies used in advanced storage platforms and products today. Mr. Aral is widely published in the field of computer science and is considered a leading authority on NUMA architectures, parallel system designs, data storage and I/O systems. He designed the first-high availability UNIX-based intelligent storage controller in the industry, and his development team invented disk-based data-sharing technology.
A new generation of storage control software built from the same technologies used in DataCore's award winning SANsymphony storage management platform is also being demonstrated in booth 433 of the Intel Pavilion focused on Modular Computing Solutions.
