Hunterdon Healthcare System Consolidates, Protects Storage With DataCore Software

SANsymphony™ Lowers Cost of Disaster Recovery, Leverages Underutilized Assets

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. (September 3, 2003) — DataCore Software, a leading provider of enterprise-class, open storage networking software, today announced that Hunterdon Healthcare System of Flemington, NJ, is using DataCore's SANsymphony™ software to reduce the costs of managing and protecting data storage. The community health care provider deployed the software as part of a Disaster Recovery strategy to help reduce the costs of replicating data from the main datacenter to a secondary site 15 miles away. As the IT staff became more familiar with the consolidation, resource management and automated provisioning capabilities of SANsymphony, they were able to leverage more of the functionality to reduce administrative effort, simplify operations and better support the wide range of administrative and clinical systems that comprise its Hospital Information System infrastructure.

Like many health care organizations, Hunterdon's information and clinical systems sprouted independently, each bringing in its own dedicated hardware environment. In order to reduce IT management costs and protect life-critical data, consolidation was essential. Hunterdon can leverage the flexibility, automation and significant performance benefits of SANsymphony to better utilize existing and legacy storage, as well as make cost-effective purchases in the future.

Hunterdon worked with solutions provider SIS to deploy SANsymphony running on Microsoft Windows alongside QuadraMed Affinity (a Hospital Information System) and other digital medical systems. In the near future, Hunterdon plans to implement a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) for which SANsymphony will play a critical role, ensuring that the application is highly available and responsive.
