Gelre Hospitals in the Netherlands Chooses DataCore SANsymphony™ and HDS Thunder 9200™

SANsymphony Helps Create a Highly Available and Cost-Effective Mirrored Storage Environment for Critical HP/UX, Windows and NetWare Applications

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. (June 9, 2003) — DataCore Software, a leading provider of enterprise-class, open-storage networking software, today announced that Gelre Hospitals in the Netherlands has selected SANsymphony™ software as the solution to manage its highly available storage infrastructure. The new infrastructure has already benefited from SANsymphony software and Hitachi Data Systems Thunder 9200™ storage arrays being at the heart of the integrated solution, providing an enormous performance gain.

"Hospitals globally are facing huge changes and are not only having to contend with mounting data levels but also with limited budgets. Gelre Hospital has established a new consolidated data center to help manage its rapidly escalating digital patient data (PACS). Maintaining business continuity for critical day-to-day activities and attaining long-term stability were key criteria of the final decision process. DataCore's SANsymphony was recognized to be the perfectly suited software management tool to complement the HDS Thunder 9200 array as the power behind the infrastructure. Within this complex, highly available, clustered HP/UX, Windows and NetWare environment, SANsymphony now provides simplified management, automated provisioning, integrated snapshot backup and high resource utilization.

Access to up-to-date, accurate medical records is essential for the hospital's life-critical tasks. Therefore, high availability was a major consideration within this solution; data backup could not impact real-time information retrieval. According to Koos Folkersma of Gelre Hospitals, "DataCore SANsymphony was the only software that could provide the flexibility, performance and scalability we required, resulting in a substantially lower administration expenditure and cost of ownership."

Having recently announced a reseller agreement with HDS, where SANsymphony is to be the SAN management solution of choice with its Thunder storage solutions, this implementation confirms customers' swift recognition of the compatibility between DataCore and HDS. "Three best-of-breed organizations, HDS, DataCore and IT-Data, combined to offer superior technologies in order to deliver an optimal solution to meet the needs of Gelre Hospital.
