When Life-or-Death Depends on the Storage Network
Community Health Network Details Innovative Storage Strategies for the Country's First All-Digital Hospital
Powered by DataCore Installation Featured at Storage Networking World
PHOENIX (Storage Networking World -- April 14, 2003) Rick Copple, CTO of Community Health Network, and Chris Stewart, Community's technical services manager, will jointly present how their storage strategy enabled the successful roll-out of the first all-digital hospital in the U.S. Ensuring that critical electronic medical data is at a doctors' fingertips mandates highly available storage -- especially at a medical center specializing in cardiac care. The representatives from this pioneering health care organization will discuss their current approach to ensuring high-availability, disaster recovery and storage manageability at the Storage Networking World conference, being held in Phoenix, Arizona, April 14-17.
With more than 900 beds in five campuses in central Indiana, Community Health Network launched its all-digital Indiana Heart Hospital in February 2003. To easily and cost-effectively manage the tremendous storage requirements, Community implemented DataCore's SANsymphony software to automate storage resources, deliver affordable disaster recovery, ensure high availability and dramatically increase capacity utilization rates.
Copple and Stewart have deployed many of today's most promising technologies to ensure best-in-class patient care: IP telephony, a wireless LAN, remote replication for disaster recovery and storage area networking. Their work has played a critical role in Community being recognized as one of the most innovative hospital systems in the U.S. by the American Hospital Association (AHA).
