Intel General Manager to Join DataCore Japan

Mr. Noriyuki Sato Will Lead Japanese Sales and Business Development Efforts

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. (April 8, 2003) — DataCore Software, a leading provider of enterprise-class, open storage networking software, today announced the appointment of Mr. Noriyuki Sato to the position of vice president of sales and business development for DataCore Japan. In his prior role as general manager for Intel K.K. Platform and Solution Marketing, Sato grew Intel Architecture (IA)-based servers to achieve 85 percent market share in Japan. He also directed the launch of Intel's first 64-bit processor server/workstation design and was instrumental in having all of the major OEMs in the region, including NEC, Hitachi and HP, to standardize on this design.

"Sato clearly understands the direction of storage and understands the pivotal role that software will play. We are therefore pleased to have him leading our next growth phase for DataCore sales in Japan, and are anxious to take advantage of Sato's 19 years of extensive experience and leadership at Intel in disciplines ranging from engineering, to product rollout and partner development," said George Teixeira, president and CEO of DataCore.

"His insights into the marketplace as well as his personal relationships with customers and OEMs, give us incredible momentum to continue to grow our presence in Japan and the Asia Pacific region. He is a perfect addition to the already strong team we have built in Japan," adds Peter Thompson, managing director, Asia Pacific for DataCore.

"I look forward to working with such a talented group of people and expanding DataCore's reach in the storage sector. I was first attracted to DataCore by the compelling economics of their solution and later learned just how technologically superior and elegant their approach to storage management has proven to be," said Mr. Sato. "DataCore's SANsymphony™ software harnesses the power, cost-effectiveness, and extensibility of Intel servers and Microsoft Windows to control storage in ways that will profoundly alter the landscape of storage networking, and I want to help drive that transformation."

Noriyuki Sato began his career with Intel K.K. as a field application engineer, but quickly moved up to corporate managerial positions. There, he developed field-training programs and redesigned tech support services, while forging relationships with major manufacturers. His first major sales success came with several PC vendors for the Intel PC board OEM business. Later, as the general manager for server and workstation marketing, he increased the business by selling Intel Server boards to all the major OEMs, achieving vendor-of-choice with them.

Sato holds a bachelor of electronics engineering degree from Hokkaido University in Japan.
