DataCore's Storage Management Platform Is the Right Choice for the Financial Services Sector

ROI and Performance Deliver Cost-Effective Solution for Industry

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. (March 24, 2003) — SANsymphony™ software from DataCore Software has earned considerable traction in the financial services sector by addressing its customers' urgent requirements for storage consolidation, continuous data access and rapid return on investment. The open storage management platform pools heterogeneous storage resources and dramatically increases disk utilization while protecting against catastrophic data loss and costly systems disruptions.

DataCore's financial services customers worldwide, including ABN-AMRO Asset Management (Lux), Conseco Finance Corporation, finis AG, Pioneer Investments, Wasatch Advisors Mutual Funds and Zurich Capital Markets, are doubling their utilization and implementing affordable disaster recovery strategies through use of SANsymphony's advanced storage provisioning and data replication functions.

Conseco's chief architect, Rod Lucero redefined the company's storage management approach by pooling its existing EMC hardware under SANsymphony and recovering terabytes of wasted premium disk space. Using the software's robust and comprehensive capabilities, Conseco is able to automate and simplify routine but complex tasks for its 70 terabytes of financial data on consumer and commercial loan origination, customer service and other business-critical activities. In addition, DataCore's Asynchronous IP Mirroring (AIM) feature gives Conseco a reliable, cost-effective means of replicating critical data from the St. Paul, Minn. company headquarters to a second production data center in Tempe, Ariz. for self-assured disaster recovery.

"We were already on-board with DataCore's cost-efficient approach to data protection, and the capabilities of its storage management platform were more than we could have wished for," said Lucero. "SANsymphony has added valuable automation to our high-end hardware, lowered the cost of management, expedited deployment of our new consolidated IT environment and given us flexible options to leverage future technologies as our storage demands continue to grow."

Regulatory requirements put even more stress on storage management by requiring not only that records and emails be kept in duplicate or triplicate, but also that they be retained in an accessible medium for extended periods. For many of DataCore customers in the financial services sector, SANsymphony's AIM feature dramatically reduces the hardware and connectivity costs of remote data replication and enables much greater distance and latitude in connecting contingency sites. Additionally, the ability to gather storage arrays with radically different price points into a single pool makes the use of less expensive storage for long term archival a practical possibility.

"Financial institutions inundated by rapid data growth are searching for ways to do more with less," said Ken Horner, DataCore's vice president of marketing. "The beauty of SANsymphony for these large enterprises lies in its ability to harness existing assets, without compromising reliability or exceeding relatively constrained budgets. It delivers real economic benefits in a very short time."
