LG-IBM to Consolidate and Automate Storage with DataCore Software

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. (February 19, 2003) — DataCore Software, a leading provider of enterprise-class, open storage networking software, and LG-IBM, a South Korean joint company of LG Electronics and IBM, have signed a comprehensive contract to deliver integrated storage products and solutions to customers in South Korea. LG-IBM and DataCore Software will maintain a close and mutually beneficial relationship that includes cooperative efforts in technical support, product planning, sales and marketing.

LG-IBM's targeted and integrated marketing initiatives drive high-end server infrastructure sales and will introduce storage domain servers 'Powered by DataCore™' to this market. Storage domain servers, loaded with DataCore's SANsymphony™ software, will initially be offered in two hardware configurations: a highly scalable version using IBM's high-end x440 server platform and another model built on the x360 server platform.

"The combination of DataCore's SANsymphony with LG-IBM's x440 and x360 servers delivers a potent solution for consolidated, high performance storage management," said Cho Sanryol, senior general manager, LG-IBM's System Division. "Enterprises will embrace LG-IBM's high-end servers loaded with SANsymphony from DataCore."

LG-IBM's x440 is a "Xeon DP"-loaded Intel-based server targeted at medium and small companies. It utilizes a building block method and enterprise X-architecture technique. As a result, the system capacity can be easily increased up to a 16way. A company can buy a minimum system capacity at first and upgrade as needed to reduce redundant investments and lower the total cost of ownership.
