Zurich Capital Markets Asia Standardizes SAN Management with DataCore

SANsymphony Delivers Secure, Cost-Effective Disaster Recovery Capabilities

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Nov. 18, 2002) — DataCore Software, a leading provider of enterprise-class, open storage networking software, today announced that Zurich Capital Markets Asia Limited (ZCMA) has selected SANsymphony™ software from DataCore to manage its storage area network (SAN). ZCMA is a member of the Zurich Capital Markets group (ZCM). ZCM is a leading provider of innovative financial products and services. Founded in 1997, ZCMA is a member of the Zurich Financial Services Group and serves a global client base including financial institutions, asset management firms, corporations, and governmental bodies.

ZCMA has a rapidly growing, multi-terabyte environment that is centrally managed by SANsymphony. The company deployed SANsymphony to take advantage of its Asynchronous IP Mirroring (AIM) feature for disaster recovery, and is upgrading its SAN to utilize SANsymphony's unique Networked Managed Volumes (NMV) capabilities for auto-storage provisioning. NMVs take the guesswork out of how much storage capacity to assign to support its mission-critical data for trading databases, email and other applications.

"DataCore has provided us with a cost-effective SAN solution that allows ZCMA to leverage existing hardware investments for a faster return on investment and dramatically lower total cost of ownership" said Frank Baliotis, senior vice president of technology for ZCMA. "We have been able to achieve centralized and cost-effective management of our storage resources with SANsymphony, and implemented its AIM remote-mirroring option for disaster recovery capabilities."

ZCMA is using AIM to mirror key data to a secure remote site outside of Sydney's central business district. AIM provides affordable disaster recovery capabilities by replicating information to the company's off-site location over its existing Internet Protocol (IP) infrastructure.

"This is an impressive win for DataCore in Australia and a significant milestone in extending DataCore's leadership position throughout the Asia Pacific region," said Peter Thompson, director of Asia Pacific for DataCore. "ZCMA exemplifies how enterprise customers can achieve significant benefits by relying on SANsymphony for mission critical applications."
