Maimonides Medical Center Deploys DataCore's Storage Networking Software to Ensure 24x7 Data Availability

SANsymphony™ Consolidates Storage Management for Critical Patient Records

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. (June 5, 2002) — DataCore Software, a leading provider of enterprise-class, open storage networking software, today announced that Maimonides Medical Center has consolidated all of its online storage resources under the control of the SANsymphony management platform. DataCore enables the hospital to keep critical information available 24x7 by centralizing the management of all storage resources under a scalable, fully redundant virtualized pool — eliminating lapses in data availability from hardware failure and storage maintenance downtime.

The hospital's IT department was challenged with the growth of data storage. The lack of maintenance windows and the potentially devastating effects of downtime on the facility's patients and staff prompted the urgency to examine storage area networking (SAN) alternatives. Maimonides Medical Center, based in Brooklyn, N.Y., is the third-largest independent teaching hospital in the U.S. The hospital has more than 800 physicians relying on its information systems to care for patients around-the-clock.
