DataCore Announces Japanese Version For SANsymphony
Setting the Standard for Enterprise Storage Management and Business Productivity
TOKYO (May 28, 2002) DataCore Software, a leading provider of enterprise-class, open storage networking software, announced the availability of SANsymphony in Japanese, the company's first localized version of its industry-leading software. Version 5.0 of SANsymphony software represents a major advance in enterprise-wide storage management as the industry's most comprehensive and powerful open storage networking platform. Software from DataCore delivers highly available, enterprise-class storage services that consolidate and automate storage management, enhance functionality, simplify administration and provide rapid return on investment.
"To efficiently manage storage environments, which are becoming more complex, it is essential to utilize virtualization technology like SANsymphony. We expect that products like SANsymphony Version 5.0 will be widely utilized in the Japanese market in the future," said Masayoshi Wada, director, storage system sales, IBM Japan, Ltd.
SANsymphony 5.0 features breakthroughs in storage network manageability through automation, robust business recovery options, performance acceleration, simple administrative interfaces and the industry's broadest range of wire-agnostic connectivity. With this open network storage platform, storage consumers gain unprecedented cost savings and enhanced business productivity. SANsymphony's automated centralized services and discovery capabilities replace much of the manual intervention and disruption that cripples business operations and overwhelms administrative personnel today. Such built-in intelligence and automation ensures that server, storage and employee resources are fully utilized.
"Customers are demanding centralized enterprise-wide storage management that is scalable, yet open to heterogeneous hardware and operating systems," said Keiji Suzuki, general manager of storage software division, file systems group with Fujitsu Limited. "SANsymphony's new functionality provides customers with such a consolidated environment. Now companies have the ability to control costs by fully utilizing existing hardware investments and thereby increasing the return on investment from information technology assets."
SANsymphony removes existing limitations on connectivity and the scope of control to consolidate storage management for all three tiers of corporate consumers, dramatically improving asset utilization and business productivity from large back-office application servers, LAN-attached workgroup servers and NAS systems, as well as remote servers, personal computers and mobile laptops. As a completely open solution, the product controls, allocates, protects and replicates disk capacity residing on all major storage devices (Fujitsu, IBM, Compaq, EMC, HDS, HP and Sun) and offers the industry's widest choice of IP-based storage and Fibre Channel connections (IP/LANs, IP/WANs, iSCSI, Fibre Channel [FC] and Hybrid IP/FC networks).
"The company's vision, combined with customer inputs, have shaped SANsymphony into a total storage solution for the global marketplace," said George Teixeira, president and CEO of DataCore. "Localizing our products and providing strong in-country support are just two of the ways we remove language and geographic barriers to facilitate the rapid deployment of storage networking solutions."
The Japanese version of SANsymphony is the first localized virtualization solution to support double byte characters. The complete Japanese user interface includes online help and error messages in Japanese.
This version of SANsymphony is expected to be available for the Japanese market this summer through partners like Fujitsu and IBM Japan. In conjunction with the launch of the Japanese version, DataCore is hosting a SANvantageSM Partner seminar today at the Hilton Tokyo in Shinijuku. This event demonstrates how SANsymphony is improving the way companies manage storage and improve the return on investment. The seminar features presentations by DataCore partners Fujitsu and Kanematsu Electronics.
