Pioneer Investments Selects DataCore's SANsymphony™

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Apr. 9, 2002) — DataCore Software, the leading provider of storage virtualization and networking software, today announced that Pioneer Investments, a leading innovator in the mutual fund industry worldwide, has chosen SANsymphony for its storage management requirements.

Due to a major relocation of its primary office, Pioneer Investments was looking for ways to reduce the complexity and costs of managing its distributed storage environment and improve its disaster recovery. After considering several options, including network-attached storage (NAS), the company decided a SAN architecture, based around SANsymphony, best met its business needs.

Pioneer Investments had detailed criteria against which it judged a number of solutions and approaches to better manage its growing data pool. The company was primarily looking for improved data access and the implementation of data replication for disaster recovery purposes. To achieve these strategic objectives, the company needed to exploit its existing storage assets through automated centralized management and control. Furthermore, flexibility in choice of storage vendors, together with improved management and reliable replication, were also key. In order to be successful, the final solution had to be cost-effective when compared with alternative solutions. SANsymphony met all these criteria, and enabled Pioneer Investments to facilitate reliable disaster recovery using the Asynchronous IP Mirroring component.

Using centralized management, the allocation of storage network resources is facilitated through a simple drag and drop process. SANsymphony guarantees high performance and stability for heterogeneous storage environments and can be expanded with further storage capacity as needed, without dependency on hardware. Furthermore, SANsymphony provides security and flexibility for restore and backup processes via its comprehensive redundancy functions.
