DeTeLine Implements DataCore's SANsymphony™

European telco joins growing ranks of customers

Reading, UK, 25 March, 2002 — DataCore Software, the leading provider of storage virtualisation and network control software, today announced that European Telco, DeTeLine, a provider of enterprises network solutions for business, carriers and service providers, has implemented SANsymphony's virtualisation platform. The immediate business benefits for DeTeLine include a centralised storage pool with advanced data backup and restore functions, combined with centralised and automated storage management. Together these deliver a high return on investment (ROI) due to the optimal usage of network storage capacity and personnel resources. In addition, SANsymphony, considered the de facto standard in innovative virtualisation technology, significantly lowers the total cost of ownership (TCO) of company-wide storage area networks.

DataCore's SANsymphony has enabled, DeTeLine to consolidate its storage resources whilst significantly enhancing the effectiveness of its storage utilisation. Prior to the deployment of SANsymphony, only one terabyte of the company's storage capacity out of potentially available total of four terabytes was being effectively used. Instead additional capacity was purchased and substantial administrative expenses to accommodate the growing demand for individual applications within DeTeLine.

DeTeLine uses two SANsymphony storage domain servers within its Storage Area Network (SAN) with Brocade switches and CMD Titan Disk Arrays. As a company-wide virtualisation platform, SANsymphony makes it possible to manage and allocate storage network resources with drag-and-drop ease. Furthermore, the advantages of DeTeLine's deployment of SANsymphony extend far beyond the virtual storage volumes that it creates to the added functions of Snapshot, Alternate Pathing and Mirroring available in the SAN. Through more effective use of its available resources, DeTeLine has been able to free up a RAID system from ongoing operations and use it for remote-site backup with the data mirroring function (Net Mirroring).
