BELGACOM France Selects DataCore's SANsymphony for the Virtualization and Administration of its SAN

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fl. (Nov. 27, 2001) — DataCore™ Software, the leading supplier of storage networking and virtualization software, today announced Belgacom France has chosen DataCore's SANsymphony™ storage management software to manage the business data of the group's French subsidiary.

"DataCore, based on its experience, is currently the only company with a truly concrete, functional and stable solution in the field of SAN virtualization," said Pascal Prudhon, project manager for the Support & Development Service at Belgacom France. "We were impressed by SANsymphony's ability to simplify SAN management. It gives us the opportunity to free ourselves from the constraints imposed by the big disk manufacturers. Although we are still in the early stages, we have complete confidence in this product and predict major developments based on this platform."

Belgacom has adopted SANsymphony to 'virtualize' the volumes and deliver them dynamically to the application servers. Belgacom also leverages SANsymphony, for a range of additional functionality including snapshot, mirroring or asynchronous replication between disk bays. In addition, the redundancy (alternate pathing) of the connections to the application servers gives a high level of reliability and performance.

In order to optimize the performance and efficiency of its SAN architecture, Belgacom uses six SANsymphony storage servers in its network. The modularity of this architecture ensures full scalability for future growth. Belgacom forecasts the future configuration to be at least 200 application servers and 10 terabytes of managed data.
