DataCore Announces SANsymphony Software Agreement with IBM
SANsymphony to Enhance IBM TotalStorage Enterprise Storage Server Functionality
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Nov. 19, 2001) DataCore Software Corporation today announced a reseller agreement with IBM whereby IBM and its worldwide resellers will sell DataCore's SANsymphony™ storage networking software to IBM TotalStorage Enterprise Storage Server (code named "Shark") customers.
Under the agreement, IBM Enterprise Storage Server customers will now be able to take advantage of SANsymphony's IP-based disk mirroring and other storage management functions.
"To succeed in today's competitive business environment customers require improved disaster tolerance and reduced total cost of ownership," said Barry Rudolph, vice president of disk storage systems and software for IBM. "DataCore's SANsymphony software can help IBM Enterprise Storage Server customers address these demanding requirements."
DataCore's advanced storage management software can provide enhanced long-distance data protection and additional disk drive management capabilities for the Enterprise Storage Server when used by IBM eServer xSeries and Windows 2000 or NT server customers, making it easier to optimize storage environments for a wide range of business and application requirements.
"Enterprise customers continue to struggle with exponentially growing amounts of data and the burden of under-utilized storage investments," said Nick Allen, vice president and research director at Gartner Inc. "The relationship between DataCore and IBM reflects the requirements that these customers are bringing to bear on the storage market to develop new offerings that make it easier for customers to grow and get better storage ROIs."
"We couldn't be more pleased to have an industry leader like IBM sell our technology," said Ziya A. Aral, chairman of DataCore Software Corporation. "IBM has the vision and wherewithal to fully leverage SANsymphony as an integral part of their complete storage solutions."
DataCore's SANsymphony software will be available for purchase from IBM or authorized IBM Business Partners beginning November 23.
