DataCore Software Teaches 'ROI Street Smarts'
Educational Series Offers Insight to Maximize Value from Storage Management Investments
FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla., (September 19, 2001) A new resource, available from DataCore™ Software, the leading supplier of storage networking and virtualization software, guides companies through decisions that can increase the return from current and future storage management investments. Taking chapters from its successes, DataCore is rolling out 'ROI Street Smarts™,' an educational program that helps companies make decisions about their current and future storage investments.
"Managing storage growth continues to present a significant challenge for companies and the urgency to make every expenditure pay off quickly only adds to the difficulty," said Ken Horner, vice president of marketing for DataCore Software. "This series reflects DataCore Software's ongoing commitment to provide education and tools that give IT Operations new insight into ways to maximize the value of their storage through virtualization."
The first resource in DataCore's 'ROI Street Smart' program is a series of white papers that considers a specific asset utilization challenge and evaluates alternative storage management strategies against the ultimate metric the bottom line. The initial white paper "Max Out Your Storage Utilization" is now available at www.datacore.com. This paper looks at a fundamental problem plaguing many companies today: apparent storage shortage despite surplus physical capacity. It discusses a range of commonly adopted solutions, including adding more storage, reallocating disks and consolidating storage in shared arrays. It then analyzes each of these options in terms of impact on ROI. The paper also highlights one customer's experience and results with a 'Powered By DataCore™' network storage pool.
Future white papers will address the effects on ROI of reducing application disruptions, leveraging purchasing power and consolidating storage control. The ROI Street Smarts series are expected to appear monthly through the end of 2001.
Time Value from Education and Technology
The white papers are the latest educational offering from DataCore Software emphasizing ways to optimize the value of existing storage assets by leveraging today's advanced storage virtualization solutions. The company also offers interactive sessions for assessing Storage Area Networking requirements and modeling the impact on return on investment (ROI) and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) from different storage management alternatives.
The company's awardwinning SANsymphony™ software delivers an immediate ROI by freeing staff from timeconsuming reconfigurations, eliminating business disruption and allowing administrators to get the most out of hardware resources. SANsymphony is the first available softwarebased solution to pool networked storage from multivendor platforms, allowing network administrators to distribute available volumes from mixed storage devices within the virtualized pools and serve capacity to any application server on an asneeded basis.
