QLogic and DataCore Overcome Today's Storage Networking Bottlenecks to Business Performance

DataCore's SANsymphony Doubles Performance Working with QLogic's SANblade 2Gbps Developers Consortium and Increases Business-Critical Application Performance

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. and ALISO VIEJO, Calif., (August 20, 2001) — DataCore™ Software, the leading provider of storage virtualization and networking software, today announced that it has more than doubled the transaction rate of I/O performance of its SANsymphony™ virtual storage platform through participation in QLogic Corporation's, 2Gb Developers' Consortium. Of equal importance, 'Powered by DataCore' solutions can now transparently bridge access from the latest high-throughput 2Gbps host bus adapters (HBAs) to existing 1Gbps storage arrays. The ability to more than double the transaction rate and throughput performance allows IT departments to meet demanding business requirements and build high-performance, high-availability storage area networks (SANs). The overall increase in SAN performance translates directly into businesses savings, since companies can significantly increase their application and storage investment returns by performing more work and more transactions in a given time period.

The combination of DataCore's SANsymphony and QLogic's 2Gb HBA overcomes critical transaction and throughput limitations in performance to accelerate business application workloads; providing non-stop availability and scalable performance to meet the most demanding application needs of storage networking environments. Current DataCore customers can take advantage of the higher QLogic 2Gb throughput with a simple upgrade to the award-winning SANsymphony 4.0 platform, demonstrating the flexibility of its software-based approach to storage virtualization. This simple software upgrade enables customers and integrators to get an immediate performance boost by adding QL2300 HBAs to existing DataCore Storage Domain Servers (SDS) and to develop new storage networking infrastructures around these high-performance components.
