DataCore Joins SNIA Forum for Supported Storage Networking Solutions
As a Charter Member, DataCore Continues to Drive Open and Interoperable SAN Standards
FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. and SAN JOSE, Calif. (July 31, 2001) DataCore™ Software, the leading provider of storage virtualization and networking software, announced that it has joined the Storage Networking Industry Association's (SNIA) Supported Solutions Forum (SSF) as a charter member. The Supported Solutions Forum initiative aims to develop multi-vendor storage networking solutions that are jointly qualified and mutually supported.
"DataCore was founded with the vision of creating a software-only solution to control storage and storage networks for today's business operations and refining this technology to achieve unmatched scalability, performance and functionality while maximizing ROI and lowering total operational costs," said George Teixeira, CEO and president of DataCore. "As a founding member of the Supported Solutions Forum, DataCore can help keep these open standards focused on the important objectives of improving ROI and cost savings to ultimately benefit storage users."
As a founding member of this Forum, DataCore is now better positioned to work with other key industry players, including competitors, to enter joint support agreements and to qualify 'Powered by DataCore' storage networking solutions in open, heterogeneous environments. The company's award-winning SANsymphony™ storage virtualization software eliminates single points of failure when integrating complex systems, ensuring non-stop access to vital data. The fully open solution can manage and serve storage assets - SCSI, ATA, SSA or Fibre Channel storage - from any vendor to any operating system - Windows, Mac OS, Linux, Netware and Unix servers. Solutions managed by SANsymphony deliver immediate value to the end-user because the software is simple to integrate with existing storage subsystems, RAID arrays or SAN installations, and it protect users' legacy hardware and platform investments.
"The SSF provides value to customers by providing a streamlined process for problem resolution," said Larry Krantz, chairman of the SNIA Board of Directors. "DataCore's membership expands the base of participants in the SSF, which will help ensure the forum's success."
Establishing a high level of tested and supported interoperability through the SNIA SSF helps clear the way for customers to implement storage networking solutions that offer greater flexibility in technology choices with reduced risk when integrating complex systems.
"DataCore recognizes the value of establishing partnerships like those possible through the SNIA Supported Solutions Forum in offering increased functionality and a positive return on investment that can be achieved by deploying enterprise-class storage network solutions," said Ken Horner, vice president marketing at DataCore. "Jointly we can provide solutions for the growing storage area networking marketplace and add value to current SAN solution offerings."
A key component of the SSF is the creation of a cooperative support community of SNIA members to facilitate joint support. Customers with highly heterogeneous and complex storage networks will benefit from the registry of configurations that are jointly qualified and supported by an industry-wide cooperative support community of SNIA members. The Forum complements the drive to open standards and builds on the many interoperability activities underway in the industry by accelerating customer implementation of open and supported storage networking solutions.
