DataCore Opens Australia Office Selects Peter Weston as Business Manager FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. (May 21, 2001) -- DataCore™ Software, the leading provider of storage virtualization and networking software, today announced the opening of its office in Australia further expanding DataCore's reach in the Asia Pacific region and demonstrating continued growth worldwide for its Storage Areas Network (SAN) solution, SANsymphony™. The Sydney office is in the Central Business District overlooking Darling Harbor, centrally located close to the enterprise client base, the IT corridor and partners. "DataCore's technology is in demand worldwide and as an international company, we are addressing this need from a global perspective," said George Teixeira, president and CEO of DataCore Software. "DataCore's goal for Australia is to be the preeminent storage virtualization product in the South Asian market." The first step towards achieving this goal is to certify SANvantage™ partners. These DataCore partners are selected based on their overall storage expertise and qualifications to deliver cost-effective SAN solutions. The office in Australian provides technical support, sales, marketing, training and education for Australian and the South Pacific region. DataCore is in the process of signing resellers and partners in order to begin the SAN education process and SANsymphony standardizations in this region. "The South Pacific market is implementing SAN solutions, however there are still general misconceptions about this technology -- SANs are not captive storage in a vendor locked environment," said Peter Weston, business manager for DataCore. "The introduction and availability of SANsymphony from DataCore into this market frees the customer to use their existing storage investments in combination with new storage hardware technologies. SANsymphony therefore enables a return on their initial technology investments and reduces the total cost of ownership." Weston has been tasked with driving channel and end user programs for Australia to gain awareness through various marketing programs. As a senior executive, Weston has established and grown Sydney-based offices for international software corporations. He is well-known in the region having conducted seminars and technical presentations at trade shows and conferences and serving as a corporate spokesperson.
