DataCore Software Expands into Europe
Fast-growing Provider of Storage Area Networking Solutions Launches in Key Overseas Markets
FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. (July 21, 2000) - DataCore Software, an innovator in storage area networking software, today announced the opening of offices in the U.K. and France, establishing its first beachhead in the European marketplace.
The new operations give DataCore critical resources for meeting the growing needs of European organizations for a powerful, cost-effective solution for managing storage. The primary mission of DataCore's international team is to build relationships with channel partners throughout the European Community and to provide training for local and regional resellers, integrators and VARs as well as customers. Both sites will offer labs for important research and development, while a state-of-the-art training facility will be established in the UK.
As storage needs continue to rise exponentially, DataCore Software has developed the first cross-vendor solution that directly addresses the challenges of managing storage by providing a bridge between disparate islands of storage. SANsymphonyTM, its flagship storage domain server software, converts these 'islands' into a single networked storage pool, letting IT managers and network administrators easily allocate storage capacity on an as-needed basis, using a simple 'drag- and-drop' interface. Now they can move these 'virtual' volumes among different servers - regardless of the underlying operating system.
SANsymphony supports all leading storage devices - from storage servers running on UNIX®, Windows® NT and Linux®, to the high-speed fibre channel devices that form the backbone of storage area networks.
"Companies worldwide face the same challenges when it comes to managing enterprise storage: a highly fragmented, proprietary environment that puts an incredible strain on IT resources," said George Teixeira, CEO and president of DataCore, based here. "We're excited by the opportunity to bring a new idea to Europe - a software-based solution that frees up resources to meet storage demand wherever it arises on the network."
Francis Glorie, director of DataCore's European operations, will manage day-to-day and strategic operations. "Europe represents a tremendous opportunity for DataCore," said Glorie. "We're committing significant resources to ensure that we can continue our fast pace of growth and by year end expect to have more than 40 employees - a third of our team - dedicated to Europe."
