DataCore Software Acquires Demand Technology Software

Founder Mark Friedman Joins SAN Innovator's Management Team

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (June 26, 2000) - DataCore Software, an innovator in storage networking software, today announced that it has acquired Demand Technology Software, Inc. of Naples, Fla. The agreement extends DataCore's storage networking software development capabilities and brings one of the storage industry's highly regarded experts to the company's management team. It is the company's second acquisition in the past year.

Mark Friedman, founder of Demand Technology and publisher of Storage Management newsletter, will join DataCore, where he will help develop strategic software technology. Friedman brings more than 20 years of experience in the storage industry and has worked with some of the segment's biggest innovators, including Seagate Software, OnDemand Software, StorageTek and Landmark Systems.

"The synergy here is solid," said Jack Scott, president of The Evaluator Group, a leading independent storage industry consulting firm based in Denver. "DataCore's SANsymphony Software has demonstrated the potential to be a breakthrough in price and performance. Performance monitoring and capacity planning expertise from Demand Technology will significantly enhance the future functionality of the product line."

Located in Naples, Florida, four-year old Demand Technology Software delivers premier performance monitoring software systems for Microsoft Windows NT/2000 environments.

"This acquisition further demonstrates our ability to actively acquire and successfully integrate critical advanced technologies," said George Teixeira, president and CEO of DataCore Software. "The Demand Technology team has a proven track record of providing enterprise-class solutions to a premier set of customers. Their expertise will help us to deliver mission-critical performance management, prediction and capacity planning solutions in order to meet the growing storage requirements of our customers."

Fast-growing Company Delivers Software-Only Cross-Platform Storage Management Solution As storage needs continue to rise exponentially, DataCore Software has developed the only software-based solution to help companies meet the challenges of managing storage in highly fragmented and proprietary environments. SANsymphony, its flagship storage domain server software, supports all leading storage devices - from storage servers running on UNIX®, Windows® NT and Linux®, to the high-speed fibre channel devices that form the backbone of storage area networks. Its cross-vendor compatibility makes SANsymphony the first shipping solution that bridges disparate islands of storage. SANsymphony converts these 'islands' into a single networked storage pool, letting IT managers and network administrators easily allocate storage capacity on an as-needed basis, using a simple 'drag-and-drop' interface. Now they can move these 'virtual' volumes among different servers -regardless of the underlying operating system.

"We are very pleased to be joining the DataCore Software team," said Friedman. "DataCore is redefining the storage landscape with its leading-edge virtualization technology. Its advanced software simplifies one of the most pressing needs in companies today: how to manage, scale and optimize existing storage investments."

All of Demand Technology's employees will join DataCore Software, bringing the combined total to more than 120 employees worldwide. Further terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
